Welcome! This is a work-in-progress so please be patient. There are many updates to come!
My name is Britney. I am currently one semester away from earning my bachelor's in computer science. I started my career doing a co-op as a firmware engineer at a water meter company. Now, I am doing an internship as an infrastructure and automation engineer for one of the biggest and most influential companies in the financial services industry. This title may seem fancy, but I promise you it's not. IMO, it's another way of saying network engineer because I deal a lot with their networks, but I don't call it that because they have official job postings specifically for "infrastructure and automation engineer" and "network engineer" for whatever reason.
As I have grown my career, there are many things that I have learned that I feel can be valuable advice to someone else. While I do have people that I can thank for where I am today, the groundwork that I did was established on my own. I want to be able to help others who are struggling to get that first step in by sharing my experience, especially college students or even people who are starting a career in the tech field.
Unfortunately, I also happen to be a person that reads and thinks a lot. Not only do I like to read fantasy books, but I also do research on STEM-related topics and politics. Because of that, I want this page to also be a place where I write my book reviews, my opinions on what's happening in the world, and share what I find interesting in the academic space. Maybe I'll also add coding tutorials too. Don't let this scare you though! Everything will have its own designated space so if there's something that you don't want to see or would like to skip over, simply don't visit that page.
With that said, it would be a bit egotistical of me to make this page just all about me! I want to make this page a collaborative effort, so I would want to hear feedback from anyone who bothers to read what I have to say — whether you agree, disagree, or even just like what you see. I want to be able to give different perspectives, advice, how-tos… really just anything!
But for now, we'll be starting off with the easy things I could quickly implement.
